Peep the video of Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa recording down at Allure Studios on 9th ave. I spent a lot of my christmas break in that same room (the “B” room). Go get Curren$y’s Smokee Robinson tape if you haven’t yet, fool!

Ski Beatz is a legend.
I’ve seen tons of people picking up Ableton this year, and it seems to be the shit for audio editing on PC. It’s dope to see a producer I respect working with a new medium, and the track in the video is crazy! Dude has a crazy new project on the way, look for that.

I’ve been working, I swear!
(The picture is proof!)
The last few months have been wild. I finished up my first semester at Berklee with A’s & B’s, and I think that is good reason for ignoring the blog. A lot has changed since I’ve posted last! I’ve been playing a lot more live music this year than I ever have, and it’s begun to influence my production. Playing with so many kids at school makes me want expand my musical horizons; and that is something I definitely want to come across in the music I make this year.
I was lucky enough to spend much of my Christmas break at Allure Studios in Manhattan, and being there helped me focus on goals for 2010. I’ve been making beats for 4 years now, and it’s time to become a producer.
I need concepts.
I need writers.
I need a catalog.
If I’m going to make an imprint on any artists in ‘10, I need to be about my business. So far this year, I feel like I’m on track.
Stay Tuned.

Neo Da Matrix
This dude is a movement. Not only has he been killing it for 10+ years (as far back as Cassidy “A.M to the P.M” / as recent as Jadakiss “Can’t Stop Me”), but he has worked with a range of artists most producers wish they could list (Rhianna, Fabolous, Juelz Santana, Styles P, Mario, etc.). He hasn’t taken a year off, and anyone who really knows the Hip Hop and Rap charts can tell you; Neo has been cashing in.
Before I even made beats I knew all the words to tracks that this dude did. I was lucky enough to spend many hours in the studio with Neo Da Matrix over this past summer. @NeoDaMatrix works daily out of Allure Studios, the same spot all my previous posts talked about, and I got to chop it up with him on a regular basis. He played me some wild shit that he was working on, and even gave me feedback on shit I had produced. He is in the studio working everyday like he’s never had a big record, and thats why so many people are hungry to work with him. This dude gave me more insight on producing and the music business (among other things, haha) then I’ll probably ever get again from a producer on his level, and I will always respect him for that.
Doing what he does (@ Allure ) :
^ I’ve spent so many hours in that room ^

I made it.
The first two weeks have been almost exactly how I expected them. I’ve met some of the most talented musicians in the world, the teachers are all incredible, and the classrooms / dorms are state of the art. Kids have been pretty cool, although obviously there is the occasional virtuoso asshole. After just my first few classes, I’m starting to see how little I really know about music. There is a wealth of knowledge I haven’t even been aware of, and it is easy to see how a whole school can be devoted to just music. I’m hoping to link up with some players soon, and get some of my tracks done live; should be crazy. The first month is really just getting acclimated, so I’ll post back when I’ve got a better feel.
Stay Tuned.

Jay-Z – “All I Need“
Almost every song on The Blueprint is a classic (not to mention #464 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Album’s of All Time), but “All I Need” has always been a favorite of mine. The track was produced by Bink!, another amazing musician out of Virginia who is as relevant today as he was then (he has tracks on both Rick Ross’s new album and Meth and Red’s comeback album “Blackout 2“). Bump this in your car!
Classic.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee in 1987, Kesha Sebert is an American singer and songwriter who is about to making a killing. I heard plenty of good things about her during my internship, as she is signed to RCA / Jive, and after hearing some more music from her I’ve had a feel she will blow up. You might know her from the hook on Flo-Rida’s “Right Round“. She’s being produced by master-mind’s Dr. Luke and Max Martin (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Katy Perry, Mos Def, Pitbull, etc.) so you can almost guarantee a success. Keep a look out for Ke$ha in the near future.
